Hungarian team wins the CEI Finals

Hungarian team Nyíregyháza Tigers won the CEI Bowl on Sunday on very hard game against Slovak team Bratislava Monarchs.

The Saturday was a real summer day, despite this lot of fans visited the final game of EFAF recognized CEI Interleague on NYVSC playing-field. The game started with Tigers’ long return. No much time left till Hungarian points, already from the first drive they made touchdown by player Róbert Hanász. He caught the pass of Vasyl Jordan, and run to the end zone of Monarchs. The extra point was unsuccessful, but the Tigers got the lead with 6-0. The right was for Slovak offense, but they didn’t reach any points. The Hungarian defense did an excellent job.

In second quarter was without any points. The both defense played the perfect game. The first half ended with result 6-0 for Tigers.

The second half started with Monarchs’ long return. It seemed that the drive will ended with points, but the Hungarian red zone Máte Farkas made a fumble, so the Tigers offense got the chance to make some points. Bence Lakatos made the second TD. The extra point was successful, so the Hungarian team grew the difference (13-0). However The Bratislava revived and Matej Havlik reached the first Slovak points. The extra was unsuccessful, so the difference between the two teams was reduced with 6 points (13-6).

The last quarter was full of surprises. It started with Tigers’ kick off and the Slovak team collected the ball. From the Monarchs offense, Havlik made another touchdown. Karpat Anton made the extra point, so Bratislava took the lead (13-14). However, the Tigers answered right back and scored a touchdown to make the score 19-14 four and a half minutes before the end of the match. The Monarchs didn’t give up the fight and they scored a touchdown with 43 seconds left (19-20).

It was impossible for Tigers to win the game, but they did it. Lakatos Bence scored the last touchdown 23 seconds before the end of the finals. These were the last points on the game, so at the end the Nyíregyháza Tigers wins the CEI Bowl with points 25-20 against the Bratislava Monarchs. The medals were given by the leaders of Nyíregyháza, Tímea Kósa and Menyhért Jászai Deputy Mayors and by László Tóth, leader of EFAF recognized CEI Interleague.
