First Danish European cup win ahead

An all-Danish final is set for July 14th to conclude the EFAF Cup 2012. It will be the first time ever a Danish club will win an European trophy. Whether it will be the hosting Triangle Razorbacks or their rival Søllerød Gold Diggers remains to be seen. The game is a rematch of last year's Danish national championship final which the Razorbacks won by a spectacular 4th down touchdown with less than two minutes to go. In fact the EFAF Cup final is not only a rematch of last year's Danish final - for four years in a row both teams have played in the final of Danish National Ligaen.

Championships during that period were split evenly between both. In their first encounter in the final game of 2008 the Razorbacks continued their championship run that started in 2006 with a third consecutive Danish title. In 2009 and 2010 Søllerød took over and also already seemed to have surpassed the Razorbacks in 2011. The Gold Diggers played a very successful EFAF Cup campaign and were only stopped by the London Blitz in last year's EFAF Cup final game. In their Danish league game Søllerød beat the Razorbacks at home and entered the Danish final game as a slight favourite. In an exciting Mermaid Bowl the Gold Diggers already seemed to have secured victory when they stopped the Razorbacks back in their own territory - but a 62 yard touchdown play turned things around.

The EFAF Cup final will be played at Atletik Stadium at Vejle, home field of the Triangle Razorbacks. The game will be a new highlight in the Razorbacks 12-year history - the club was founded in 2000 uniting three former teams and it took not long to become one of the most successful football teams of Denmark. The Razorbacks are unbeaten at home since April 2007 and hope to be able to continue that series in the EFAF Cup final. This hope is further fuelled by the fact that the Razorbacks also are undefeated this season while Søllerød has already lost two games against neighbouring Copenhagen Towers.

Kickoff of the EFAF Cup final game on July 14 is set for 7 p.m. CET. The game will be streamed live on www.vejleamtsfolkeblad.dk, the homepage of the regional newspaper which has partnered up with the Triangle Razorbacks.

The EFAF Cup is one of the two EFAF pan-European annual club competitions and complements the European Football league (EFL). Club teams not yet able to compete for Eurobowl in the elite 16 in European Football League may qualify for EFAF Cup instead and compete at continental level. Champions of leagues not eligible for EFL play and runner-ups of all countries are eligible to participate. The winner of the EFAF Cup earns an automatic berth in next year's EFL.
